What we do
livelihood
Many people with disabilities and their caregivers experience challenges to obtaining and sustaining an income and the security that it provides. Issues such as stigma and discrimination, accessibility barriers, disability-related expenses, and caregiving responsibilities all pose barriers to achieving long-term financial stability and empowerment.
We expect to see benefits to individuals and families impacted by disabilities such as:

Youth empowerment
Kuhenza provides career guidance for young adults with disabilities who have completed secondary education. This enables them to transit to tertiary institutions for skills acquisition. Upon completion of their courses, we provide them with the appropriate trade tools to enable them to become independent in their lives.
Young people with severe disabilities are provided with three goats as their income generating project.
Parent support Groups
Kuhenza encourages caregivers of children with disabilities to come together and form parent support groups in order to help each other both emotionally and practically.
This peer support often gives them the courage to advocate for the rights of children with disabilities in their communities.
Kuhenza supports these groups by providing them with business and entrepreneurship skills. We connect them with other organisations where they can access grants or loans and further support.
